We work with a number of retailers in the London area, but now we know for sure who are nearest client is…. Intersport Wimbledon has just opened, which we reckon is about 500 yards from our office.
We’re delighted to have them in the town, as Wimbledon has been lacking a ‘traditional’ sports store for some time now – so the outlet is a great alternative to those just selling sports fashion and cheap and cheerful sporting apparel.
Running is a key area of the store’s offering, and in particular footwear. The store’s staff are all runners and they know how to help customers find the right running shoes. Customers can analyse their ‘gait’ on the store’s treadmill and video camera. This enables the staff to get a closer look at which shoes are the most suitable.

Indeed, running and Intersport are now closely linked as the brand was recently announced as the official partner for parkrun UK and on January 23 the first event where Intersport was visible to the parkrun community and officially recognised as a partner. Intersport Wimbledon also offers a loyalty Scheme where members qualify for 10% off ALL footwear across every gender, sport or age. The franchise, operating as Agon Sports, also has a store in London’s Herne Hill. Manager of both stores is Peter Swann and we’re pleased Peter has decided to use Retail IT for the store’s technology support services and elected to use the Cegid CBR system. Although the team there have only just been introduced to the system, they have been impressed with its functionality as well as the support and training on offer from Retail IT.
